Introducing Capt. Ron Begnaud
Capt. Ron Begnaud, is a Louisiana native and has lived in Louisiana his entire life. Cajun through and through Ron has been fishing since very early childhood and has always been passionate about it. Ron has been targeting these fish in shallow water with a fly rod for over 30 years and has had some of his stories and fishing experiences featured in national publications like The Drake magazine.
Knowledge of the Marsh
With an understanding that you, as a guest, are investing your time and money for a great experience, Ron strives to ensure that you have as great an opportunity to catch fish as possible, and equally as important, that you enjoy your time on the skiff. Ron is well versed on the flora and fauna of the Louisiana Marsh, as well as the natural and human history of the area and will leave you knowing a bit more about the area than you did before. Ron approaches a fishery as a student, always looking for the next problem to solve as he continually accumulates knowledge and information to enable him to find fish in all of the conditions and tide variables that get thrown at him. Ron has consolidated some of that information into a “Redfish 101” presentation that he has been invited to share at numerous fly fishing clubs and fly shops
It’s About the People
For Ron the best part of guiding isn’t the fish, or spending time in the natural environment (although he does love these things). Ron’s favorite part of guiding is the people, the relationships and friendships that are forged in the boat, and the opportunity to help others experience the fishing experience that he is so passionate about, and to achieve their goals of catching great fish.
